Why should I make a decent news post?

Posted by BumFodder - August 3rd, 2011

It will only be like all other news posts, where people put all the funny stuff they find, thinking people will care.

Anyway, I'm just glad that where I live is a far cry from Norway.

It all looks like electronic ebonics (a politically correct American word for African-American slang) to me...

What does? Also ive never heard that term before.

Oh, just some of the conversation below... Holy shit, ebony phonics?! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ebonics_%28word%2 9 Never knew that before, or I did, and conveniently blocked it the hell out of my swiss cheese brain :P

It was recognised as a language? How does that make sense?

It doesn't. Can only assume, it's just a warm up for making Spanish an official language, which is BS.

I dont think that looks very likely though

lol

Maybe not, but it might as well be. Every time I get a voting ballot, half of it is in Spanish... same with the Division of Motor Vehicles. Never underestimate the insanity of the American government.

Governments do that all the time with minority languages though. Like Canada and French, even though its only spoken in one place and most quebecans know english.

It's just a fancy word to get more money into the hands of academics. Ebonics isn't a language, it's just a bunch made up words that doesn't have any roots in the past.... it's just local slang :\ Otherwise they'd be teaching it in school. Although they might teach it on a college level... which means any one who learns it, and goes into the ghetto to try and speak it, is likely to be buggered.

I didnt mean to imply it was a language. If it was a language then so would every dialect.

highland scots might as well be a different language though

Well, I know one thing, I can't read or speak Scottish Gaelic, so it must be another language, despite what the EU might think. A quick check on WIki says that less than 2% of the population up there even speak it anymore.
Germans probably had something to do with that... now they got the local monopoly on long-ass words

Scots and Scottish gaelic are different things, dont blame you for getting them mixed up though

Scots is basically english with more scottish words and phonetic scottish spelling

Soo, which language was the old man speaking in 'Hot Fuzz'? Y'know, the farmer with the hedge fetish and sea mine? Has to be one of my all time favorite movies, it was so well written.

He was speaking english lol

I think if we went back 2 centuries, we wouldn't know WTF ppl were saying |:
When I was really little, my Pop had some very old friends, and I couldn't for the life of me understand 2/3rds of what they were saying... old American accent, I think my Pop said...

Yeah apparently where I live used to be full of fishermen and it had its own dialect which was incomprehensible. The dialect is dead now since there are no fishermen.

Ah, I see... Wiki can be most helpful at times. Other than the Hindenburg crash and a German U-boat sinking off the coast, there isn't much history to my nearest coastal communities... other than hurricane Sandy (not super-storm Sandy; the weather people conveniently ignored some data, probably so the insurance companies wouldn't have to pay claims to certain accounts).

You watch any TV shows regularly? I kinda gave up on TV in general around 2008, when they took the old analog signal off the air. Used to like watching M*A*S*H and the earlier Stark Trek series, along with a few cartoons, like Jackie Chan Adventures and Yu-Gi-Oh, Batman....

I dont really watch anything anymore. I do watch anime every night though, but only two episodes a night. I should really start watching some stuff. what do you watch

Sorry for the delay Homer, had a bit of a man plumbing problem the other day. I'm better now, but it feels like I'm bursting for a pee all the time :|

Ah, just finished up http://www.youtube.com/user/LibertysKidsTV which is based on a book I cannot find. Was read to me in the 70's, though the book itself dates back to about 1800. I dislike when successful cartoons don't list where they got the material. Having some other asshole come in and take credit for some long dead genius' work, is just appalling, and should be illegal.

Cartoons: Static Shock, Cowboy Bebop, Vandread, 1990's Batman, Rocko's Modern Life, Ren and Stimpy, Felix the Cat (the b/w version I grew up with), Thundarr the Barbarian. Can't go wrong with any of them.

TV shows: The Star Treks (minus Enterprise the last one), Top Gear UK, American Pickers, Restoration I guess.. don't watch much of live human stuff anymore, odd that.

Well I guess if theyre dead then they think that they can get away with it easy, and they can. I dont really watch live action stuff anymore either, but I do watcha few sometimes such as top gear, midsomer murders, random short drama series and the news and stuff. Also what was the plumbing problem?

The Emperor has some mad skills.

Hes a very old man with a lot of experience. Hes won the universal space dance off competition 5 times in a row.

Kidney stone(s), couldn't pee a bit Monday, easily in the top 3 pains of my life. At first I thought it was a muscle spasm, like the one that hit my back last year, which was also in the top 3...

I wouldnt expect a muscle spasm to hurt as much as a kidney stone. Did you get it removed?

My kidney eventually expelled it, but the disc bulge that pressed on the mass of nerves, that sent shocking amounts of pain to my brain, was removed, thank all the saints.

Oh yeah, the sciatic nerve bundle that runs alongside the spine, just can't be fucked with by any kind of pressure or pinching. A disk between the bones in my spine, got blown out and created that pressure. Not long after the car accident, it was hot out and I picked up a piece of wood - not a big one either *crack* whaaaa? Stood up walked around... wtf? Picked it up again and another crack! The next two days I could barely move, for fear of even worse pain... screaming, rage filled pain; no way to moderate it. Now I know why I men scream like that in hospitals........

Wow it sounds like youve been in a lot of pain. The worst pain ive had is an ingrowing toenail.

Haven't had an ingrown toenail since boyhood, those can be quite bad. A good pair of needlenose pliers and some Bactine fixed me right up.

Yeah the doctors cut most of my nail off but they didnt see the ingrowing part because of all the blood so I keep cutting it myself. Ive managed to cut almost all of it off but theres a tiny bit left which will be awkward to cut off since its at the side.

Y'know, that 'Emperor dance' reminds me of the 'Obama teabagging civil rights activists' dance... heard they ran a clip of it on MTV in 2010 |:

Ive never heard of this before, what is it?
